[關鍵詞]翻譯 大學英語教學 能力培養

進入二十一世紀,尤其是我國加入WTO以來,英語的實用性在我國日益突出,社會對翻譯人才的需求越來越大。而翻譯專業人才有限,遠不能滿足實際需求。大學英語又缺乏對公外學生翻譯能力的培養。因此,要培養公外學生的翻譯能力,必須將翻譯教學貫穿到大學英語中。本文結合教學實踐,試圖對大學英語中翻譯教學進行探析,希望通過對學生翻譯能力的培養進而全面提高學生的英語綜合應用能力。

一、 當前大學英語教學中翻譯教學的現狀

筆者作為長期從事大學英語教學的一線教師,所看到的情況是:大多數學生聽和讀的能力較強,說、寫、譯的能力較弱。也就是說輸入能力大大強于輸出能力。導致這一狀況的原因何在呢?

在大學英語日常教學中,“譯”被長期忽略:教師把精力主要放在培養學生“聽、說、讀、(寫)”的能力上。大部分教師(尤其是年輕教師)趨向于全英教學,試圖創設一個全英文的教學環境。傳統的語法翻譯教學方法幾乎被全盤否定,翻譯教學和訓練似乎與守舊等同,甚至將其與學生交際能力的培養對立起來。結果翻譯只能處于被動地位。這種輕視翻譯能力的培養的狀況直接導致學生翻譯能力普遍較低的嚴重后果。

二、翻譯與聽、說、讀、寫的關系

綜合應用能力包括聽、說、讀、寫、譯,它們相輔相成,缺一不可。聽和讀是獲取知識、語言習得的主要來源,而說和寫是語言輸出和交流交際的主要手段,當交際涉及到二種語言的轉換時,那就需要一座橋梁,這座橋梁就是翻譯。“譯”可被理解為“聽說讀寫譯”的中心環節,它是信息收集、加工、轉化、輸出,最終形成概念和認識的樞紐,“譯”顯然是五種基本功里最難的一項,也是外語學習者語言和知識各方面能力的綜合體現。當然,綜合能力的提高離不開知識的積累,聽、說、讀、寫、譯環環相扣,各有其功。

三、 大學英語教學方法與翻譯能力培養

翻譯不僅是中西方兩種語言和文化的相互交換,而且是兩種思維的相互碰撞和交流。在大學英語教學中,如果單純地使用交際教學法進行全英教學,學生中英互換的思維就無法得到鍛煉和提高,翻譯能力便難以改善。若單純地使用傳統的語法翻譯教學,沒有了一定的語言環境,學生的聽說能力又得不到提高,甚至影響學生的學習興趣。因此,筆者建議不妨將兩種教學方法結合,靈活運用,共同為培養學生綜合能力服務。

四、 翻譯能力培養的方法

1. 適當使用翻譯教學法,防止學生囫圇吞棗

對于簡單的詞匯、語法、句型等,用交際法等全英教學對學生而言頗有益處的,它有助于提供英語交際的情景,培養他們用英語思維的習慣;而對于具有抽象意義的詞匯、復雜的語法、句型、篇章結構,要想讓學生徹底明白和掌握它們,只用英語是不夠的。此時傳統的語法翻譯教學能為語義復雜、文化內涵深厚的源語言找到相對應的母語,透徹明晰、省時省力又簡潔易懂。例“How can a country where typical parents are ashamed of their daughter studying mathematics instead of going dancing, or of their son reading Weber while his friends playing baseball be expected to compete in the technology race with Japan?”(翟象俊等,126)由于該句較長,結構較復雜,可能會造成學生理解困難,但如采用語法分析法,首先抓住其構成主謂部分的基本詞語:How can a country…be expected to compete…?然后再對其它成分進行分析,就不難理解和翻譯了。

2.適當教授一些翻譯理論和技巧

教師可以從課本中精心挑選一些疑難冗長、結構復雜的句子為例,適當有效地傳授一些基本翻譯理論和技巧(如翻譯的標準、常用的方法、如何忠實于原文、什么是可接受譯文等),對翻譯中普遍出現的問題有針對性地進行分析。

例“It is a revealing fact about our language and culture that someone dedicated to pursuit of knowledge is compared to such a freak.”(翟象俊等,125)這是“It is + n. + that clause”的機構,that從句實為主語從句,因較長而后置,it為形式主語,此結構使得句子整體平衡。長句翻譯常用的方法有順譯法、分譯法和換序譯法。由于英漢語法結構上的差別,在翻譯此句時需要更換原文詞語的前后次序,將其譯為:把專心致志追求知識的人比作這樣一種怪人,這一事實突出地反映了我們語言和文化的現狀。然后,教師可以給出類似的例子讓學生進行雙語互譯,從而學會舉一反三。

3. 創設文化環境,增強學生跨文化意識

教師要充分利用各種資源導入文化理念。如《21世紀大學英語》中許多課文都涉及文化差異的內容:“Conversational Ballgame”介紹了西方和日本談話方式的區別:“Education:East and West”和“Why They Excel”比較了東西文化和教育觀念的不同;“The Tale of a Cultural Translator”和“A Multicultural Person”等課文用鮮活的例子說明對不同文化、不同習俗了解的重要性。教師除了推薦一些閱讀材料以外,還應引導學生利用現代教學手段,如課件、多媒體、網絡等,學習和品嘗原汁原味的英語。

4.以學生為中心,激發其興趣

以學生為中心可以通過以下幾個活動達到。首先,布置和檢查預習預習是是學生參與課堂活動的第一環節,有利于培養學生自學能力。其次,精講多練,機會留給學生。因為實踐性強是語言學習、尤其是翻譯活動的特點,沒有大量的實踐機會,就不可能造就合格的翻譯人才。再次,翻譯形式多樣化。可以設計多種活動,如:pair work, group work等,讓學生在較為輕松的氛圍里進行翻譯。

五、結語

大學英語教學的主要的目標是培養學生語言綜合應用能力,這種綜合能力的表現形式是“聽說讀寫譯”五種能力的結合。因此,我們必須改變大學英語教學中輕視翻譯能力培養的現象,將翻譯有效貫穿于大學英語教學中,最終全面提高學生英語綜合能力。

【關鍵詞】零基礎少數民族學生 母語遷移 英語學習

大學生在英語學習過程中，在詞匯的讀音、拼寫、釋義與應用等方面面臨不同程度的困難，尤其是新疆少數民族大學生。本文站在學生的角度，通過問重點訪談的形式，對零基礎少數民族大學生英語學習中存在的突出問題進行分析，并提出了具體的對策措施。

一、新疆零基礎少數民族大學生英語學習中存在的主要問題

1.母語的負遷移作用。在我任教的新疆農業大學的14級的C級少數民族學生中，有69%認為詞匯的釋義與應用是詞匯學習的主要難點，21%學生認為詞匯的讀音和詞匯的學習是主要難點，其余10%的學生則認為詞匯的拼寫是詞匯學習的主要難點。

首先，在記憶英語單詞的拼寫與讀音方面，許多同學比較偏向于使用傳統的在紙上反復抄寫的方式來背單詞，這樣就必然將單詞記憶的重點放在了單詞的拼寫上，而忽略的單詞的讀音，理解及應用。這樣就算把單詞拼對，不知其意且不知如何正確使用，只是機械的將幾個字母組合記下來是毫無意義的。

其次，在單詞拼寫方面，由于英語與維吾爾語和哈薩克語部分名字的拼寫讀音和釋義都很相似，部分少數民族同學就索性使用母語的讀音及拼寫。例如，music一詞，在維吾爾語中音樂為muzika，因此有很大一部分同學就將music一詞錯誤的拼為musika 或者muzik。

再次，在記憶單詞的釋義與用法方面，大部分同學充分利用母語，采用英維對比或者英哈對比的方法來學習。有些情況下在維吾爾語或者哈薩克語中找不到與某個英文單詞完全對等的詞匯，這就使學生慣用的“配對”式學習無從下手，或者往往回造成對英文單詞詞義的偏解和誤解導致錯用以及濫用單詞。例如，我曾經在學生的作文中讀到過when a police 的用法，起初我以為是句子不完整，跟學生溝通后我才發現是學生片面的將when對等到漢語的“當”，于是在表達“當警察”時，直接不管詞性把when當動詞用鬧出來的笑話。

2.負面的心里暗示。在與學生溝通中我發現學生負面的心理暗示也是阻礙學生詞匯學習的一大障礙：

首先，部分學生覺得學好英語對其今后發展沒有任何的好處。接受采訪的所有學生均為非英語專業的大學二年級學生，他們處于學習的針對性和目的性很強的階段，所以他們認為自己的英語水平不會左右自己的就業，即學好英語不會挽救畢業后的就業前景，學不好英語也不會因此失去比較好的就業機會。而相比之下，學好國語和維吾爾語對于今后的發展可以起到決定性作用，所以索性把學英語所消耗的時間精力花費在學習專業課和漢語學習上。

其次，還有一部分學生認為英語是遙不可及的，學好英語是非常困難的，是幾乎不肯能的。這種心理負面的暗示多來自出生于農村戶口或者鄉鎮戶口的學生，這些學生第一次背井離鄉來到大城市，在大城市以及高校中還未找到歸屬感，自卑心理較重，他們認為能學好專業課，掌握專業技能，可以順利畢業就已經是很不容易的事了，而英語作為國際語，離他們的自我發展太遠。

最后，部分學生認為在學習英語的路上屢戰屢敗，反復受挫，最終放棄。這部分學生認為自己很認真的在學，每一節課都緊跟著老師的節奏，課下也按時復習，但是效果不如人意，今天背的單詞明天忘，前天會讀的單詞，過兩天就完全不認識了，久而久之一點點的跟不上累積到期末就覺得自己在聽天書。

二、相應的解決辦法

1.首先，學生在英語學習過程中所受到的母語干擾，不僅僅包括母語對第二語言學習的干擾，還包括其語言認識習慣和學習模式對第二語言學習的干擾。因此，在解決這一瓶頸問題時，要注意對學生思維方式和學習習慣進行細致的指導，培養少數民族學生第二語言學習的良好習慣。

再次，母語的負遷移作用是造成學生英語詞匯學習困難的一個主要因素，因此，應加強英維兩種語言之間的對比與分析，減少母語負遷移作用造成的影響。

2.欲消除少數民族學生學習英語中的心理障礙，高校教師應提高認識、著眼未來、喚起學生的自信心。幫助少數民族學生認識英語在當今社會交流中的重要性。隨著社會的發展，英語將成為求職、與外國交流、甚至成為一個新時代青年必會的的主要語言。因此學好英語對自己將來的工作、學習、生活將有很重要的意義。

再次，多與少數民族學生接觸，進行感情交流。學生學習英語的興趣跟任課教師有很大的關系，尤其少數民族學生情感豐富，性格多數外向活潑，只要老師親民并主動與他們交流，肯定會對他們起到極大的鼓勵作用。因此，教師應把微笑帶進課堂，將歡樂帶給學生，做學生們的良師益友，使他們真正地喜歡自己，愛上自己的英語課。同時相信他們，給他們創造學習的機會，對他們的成績，一點點進步，對他們在課堂上的每一次成功表現都給予肯定和表揚。這樣他們會進一步學習，追求較好的成績。每個學生都有學好的潛意識和成功的渴望，老師應創設不同的契機，滿足學生的這種需求，使其能體驗到成功的喜悅。找些適當的機會，讓他們親自進行社會實踐，真正領會一下學好英語的樂趣。
